Slade Johnston – Turn Your Passion into Your Busines

In This Episode:

“When you have passion for something, you find a way to make it happen – this is the panacea to success.” This quote from Zig Ziglar sums up the story of how Slade Johnston came up with the idea for Trips4Trade, the only membership-based platform to trade trips in the outdoors, adventure, vacation, and sports.

Slade came from a family of avid turkey hunters. While planning a hunt with his Dad, they saw how expensive hunting outfitters were. So they decided to swap a hog hunt on their property in Alabama for a turkey hunt at another guy’s place in Colorado. That experience led to the birth of Trips4Trade.

The business is anchored on a collaborative consumption business model where customers save tremendously on the expenses of dream trips just by exchanging what they already have. Slade believes that building good relationships and a genuine desire to help other people are crucial elements to starting and growing your business.

Jim and Slade talk about using your passion as a foundation for starting a business and the special bond that’s formed when like-minded people come together and realize their mutual enjoyment and appreciation for adventure and the outdoors.
